Porsche 911 E Hot Rod

This 1968 911 E began life as a US-specification car, delivered through Porsche Cars Pacific in Burlingame, California, and has since been converted to right-hand drive and reworked as a fast-road hot rod. The body was fully restored and refinished in bare metal in the mid-1990s for Porsche enthusiast Peter Andrews, and the paint still wears well.

The original 2.0-litre engine has gone. In its place is a 3.0-litre flat-six from a later SC, running on a rebuilt Type 915 gearbox with a limited-slip differential and strengthened internals. The engine was rebuilt again in 2016. Suspension has Bilstein dampers, uprated torsion bars, roll bars, Turbo tie-rods and steering rack, while SC callipers and braided hoses look after braking. The Fuchs wheels are 6-inch at the front and 7-inch at the rear.

Inside, the car is lightweight but still carpeted, with newer leather bucket seats with tartan inserts and a Momo Prototipo wheel. The UK history file holds invoices from Jaz, Transend and Paul Stephens, along with notes of past track days and signatures from well-known drivers in the driving manual. It shows 35,455 miles.
