Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI

The 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI took over from the 1973 Carrera RS with near-identical mechanicals in the new impact-bumper G Series body. Only 1,011 coupes were built for the model year, which makes them scarcer than the RS, and this left-hand-drive car was built in December 1973, among the earliest of them.

It was first supplied through Porsche Belgium and registered in Brussels in 1974, later spent time in the south of France, and came to the UK in 1998. A Porsche certificate of authenticity confirms it was originally orange with a leather interior, ducktail spoiler and electric sunroof. It is now Grand Prix White, and the engine is not the original: it was replaced with a 1973 unit at some stage, and the dealer later fitted a 2.7 MFI engine built from new un-numbered cases.

The car was restored in 2008 by Barry Carter, and the current keeper has spent over £36,000 on it. The work includes a full interior retrim in period materials, restored Fuchs wheels on Pirelli Cinturato tyres, a mechanical refresh by MCE Porsche and a suspension overhaul with geometry set-up. A modern Porsche PCM unit is fitted. Service history is incomplete, with nothing from its time in Belgium.
