This 1972 911 2.4S combines a rare engine with a rare gearbox. Only 77 right-hand-drive 2.4S models were built for the UK, and just four of those had the Sportomatic, a four-speed with no clutch pedal that still leaves the gear changing to the driver. The dealer believes this is the only one of the four finished in Sepia Brown from the factory. As an E-series car it also has the external oil filler flap on the rear wing.
It was supplied new to Rodney Clarke, a co-founder of Connaught Engineering, and passed to a second long-term owner in 1979, who kept it for decades. The engine was stripped and overhauled by AFN Isleworth in 1979 at about 69,000 miles, when the torque converter was also replaced. More recently the engine and gearbox have been removed for inspection and the chain tensioner upgrade has been done.
The car had a bare-metal repaint in its original colour in 2008, documented with photographs and invoices. Inside, the Recaro sports seats retain their original material, with the driver's bolster repaired and re-foamed rather than retrimmed. The carpets, headlining and much of the trim are original. It has its original numbered Fuchs wheels, tool roll, jack and Leitz exhaust. The history file includes the original AFN purchase paperwork, 1979 Puttocks sale papers and MOT certificates back to 1976. The page's spec panel shows 9,300 miles, but the text says just under 93,000, which fits the 1979 overhaul mileage, so 93,000 is used here.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Porsche factory data for 1972 911 2.4 S (190 PS DIN, 2341cc); weight, top speed and acceleration left blank because the Sportomatic-specific figures are not confirmed).
£147,500 since it was listed on 5 November 2026. No changes yet.
