This is an early short-wheelbase 911, completed at Zuffenhausen on 11 October 1965 and delivered new to a Mr Robert J. Row in Pacific Palisades, California. It left the factory in Gulf Blue (code 6603), and the colour has stayed with it. The 1,991cc flat-six was the 911's original engine, replacing the four-cylinder unit of the 356.
Tuthill, the UK Porsche specialists, bought the car in 2012. It has been through their hands since 2016, when Anthony Galliers-Pratt had them convert it into an FIA-approved race car. It is now built to current 2.0L Cup specification and is described as one of Tuthill's first SWB 911 projects. The current owner bought it in 2022.
Its competition record is solid. It was campaigned in Peter Auto's 2.0L Cup from 2022 to 2024, taking a pole position and an overall win at Mugello and the Gentleman Class title in 2023. That year it also finished fifth overall in the all-1965 911 race at the Goodwood Revival, driven by Mark Webber. It is eligible for pre-66 historic events including the Spa 6 Hours, Le Mans Classic, Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore.
