About this car
Chassis 007 is the last and most developed of the Onyx Formula 1 cars, built for the Swiss-owned Monteverdi Onyx team in 1990. It is the ORE-2, powered by the 3.5-litre Ford Cosworth DFR V8 that became the norm after turbos were banned at the end of 1988.
In period it was driven by JJ Lehto and Gregor Foitek, whose father Karl owned a quarter of the team. It started at several Grands Prix, including San Marino, Monaco, Canada, Mexico and Germany. Its best results were 11th at Monaco and 12th at Imola, both with Lehto.
The car is described as substantially original and kept in running order within the Monteverdi collection for many years. Its DFR engine has been rebuilt by Tim Preston's F1 specialists, with help from Onyx founder Mike Earle. A spares package and documentation come with it. The page says it is accepted for historic events run by Motor Racing Legends, Peter Auto and Masters Historic Racing. No price is given.
