Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9

The 450SEL 6.9 was the flagship of Mercedes-Benz's W116 range: a long-wheelbase S-Class with a 6.8-litre V8 and self-levelling hydropneumatic suspension. Outwardly it looked like any other SEL, with only a small badge on the boot lid to give it away, which is part of its appeal today.

This right-hand-drive car is finished in silver and shows 108,572 miles. It has a documented history from new, starting with supply by Normand of Park Lane, London. The dealer's notes mention a service booklet with 17 stamps and later invoices from marque specialists. It has since been serviced by Thornley Kelham, with bills on file for around £12,000.

Recent work includes a full interior re-trim in blue MB Tex with heated front seats, re-polished veneers and a modern stereo. The suspension was also overhauled by a previous keeper. The dealer describes the car as original and unmolested, and it has previously been through their hands.
