Chassis 607 is a works Lotus XV that ran at the 1958 Le Mans 24 Hours, driven by Cliff Allison and Graham Hill. It carried a specially built 2-litre Coventry Climax FPF engine. In practice it matched the lap times of the 3-litre Ferraris and Jaguars, and it started the race ahead of the works Testarossas and an Ecurie Ecosse D-Type. It retired after three laps with a blown head gasket.
Later in 1958 it went to Kenya, where it was raced by a succession of owners until 1970. They included Peter Huth, who set a Nakuru lap record in 1965 that officials double-checked. Over those years it ran with Ford and Datsun engines, but it was eventually reunited with its original Climax engine and transaxle. Bill Colson bought it in 1986 and had the engine rebuilt. The current owner acquired it in 2010.
A multi-year restoration was finished in 2023, and FIA HTP papers followed in 2024. A history file accompanies the car. The page gives no mileage or registration, and it is described as tax paid.
