This is an early Series 1 Elise, the car many enthusiasts regard as the purest take on the Lotus formula. It uses the bonded aluminium tub and the 118 bhp Rover K-Series engine, in a car that weighs well under a tonne.
It was supplied new through Peter Smith Sports Cars in October 1998 with several factory options: metallic paint, leather trim instead of cloth, driving lamps, an alarm, a radio fitting kit and a body-coloured hardtop. An Alpine stereo with remote control was added in 2000.
The mileage is 28,863, which is low for a 1998 Elise. The car spent much of its life in the Midlands and then northern Scotland, and was used sparingly in the 2010s. Its history file holds the original service book, invoices from Scottish garages and old MoT certificates. A full set of books, manuals and brochures comes with it. The current owner bought it in May 2022 through Lotus specialist Paul Matty.
