Land Rover Range Rover Classic

This is a 1979 three-door Range Rover from the early 'F' chassis series, a rare survivor of the original Classic line. It was built for export in left-hand drive, and the Heritage certificate confirms Sahara Dust as its original colour. The history on the page begins in 2013, when it came back to the UK.

A later owner commissioned a rebuild to as-new specification by Famous Four, with a few sensible updates. These include free-flow exhaust manifolds, a full stainless steel exhaust, Sundym glass and earlier-style bonnet mirrors. A Fairey overdrive on the four-speed gearbox cuts engine revs by about 500rpm at cruising speed. The 3,528cc V8 runs on twin SU carburettors.

Inside, the seats are retrimmed in tan vinyl with Grant tartan from Lochcarron of Scotland, and the car has new carpets throughout. The odometer reads 83,433 miles, with roughly 4,000 covered since the restoration. The history file holds a photographic record of the work and invoices totalling well into the late £40,000s. It also holds the period brochure, a Haynes manual and the instruction booklet.
