This short-wheelbase Series III 88 was first registered in May 1973 and has been refurbished by Land Rover specialist John Brown 4x4 as a one-off HQ Special Edition. The work was completed in 2025. It is finished in Tasman Blue with Eiger Grey bumper, grille and steel wheels, and sits on a new set of Insa-Turbo Range 4x4 tyres.
Power comes from the 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which has a Weber carburettor and sports air filter, paired with a reconditioned four-speed gearbox and freewheeling hubs. The cabin has a deluxe black trim with high-back front seats, rear bench seats, sound deadening and carpets. Modern touches include a touchscreen stereo with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an immobiliser and a towbar with electrics.
The car was first restored in the late 1990s, and the dealer believes the chassis was replaced then. John Brown 4x4 judged it sound during the latest work. The odometer shows 69,653 miles. It is clear on HPi, and as a historic vehicle it is exempt from road tax and MOT. The dealer will supply a new MOT, a service and a six-month warranty with the sale.
