This is one of the last 3.8-litre XK150s, registered in Wigan on 14 March 1961, the day before the E-Type was unveiled in Geneva. The 3.8 was the final and most powerful XK150 engine, and these late cars with overdrive and wire wheels are among the most sought-after of the line. They combine the wide body and one-piece windscreen with four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes.
The fixed-head coupe is finished in pearl grey and still has its original seats, carpets and headlining, with a period coachbuilt fabric sunroof. The dealer describes the interior as unrestored and patinated rather than perfect. It shows about 94,000 miles from new.
The history is well documented. A Cornish family owned it from the early 1970s, rebuilt the engine in the early 1980s and fitted a new petrol tank and stainless exhaust. It then spent 19 years in Shropshire, where it did roughly 28,000 miles on club runs and rallies. New chrome wire wheels were fitted in 2007. The most recent owner, in York, had it repainted and rechromed, and the page says more than £20,000 has been spent. The car comes with a service manual and a thick file of invoices and old MOTs.
