1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster

£150,000(estimated - POA)

About this car

This is a left-hand-drive Series I E-Type with the original 3.8-litre triple-SU straight-six, the most sought-after specification of Jaguar's 1960s icon. It is a USA-market car, supplied new via Jaguar Cars New York, and it keeps its matching-numbers status and its original Carmen Red over red leather colour combination. The black soft-top hood is the correct finish for the roadster.

The car has been fully restored by XK Engineering, a well-regarded Jaguar specialist, and shows 59,000 miles. A recent service costing £3,000 has just been carried out. Dunlop disc brakes, a feature that set the E-Type apart from most of its contemporaries, are fitted. The car is offered with its original 1962 registration number.

Provenance is well supported. The car comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a large history file. Early flat-floor-era Series I cars with matching numbers and documented restorations are the ones collectors look for, and price is on application.
