Healey Silverstone D-Type

Chassis D16 is one of only 105 Healey Silverstones built, the cutaway-door, road-and-race sports car that Donald Healey aimed at amateur competitors. It is a matching-numbers car in its original Sky Blue, first registered as LTJ 177 on 3 June 1950 and supplied with its original buff logbook.

The history is unusually complete. D16 was bought new by J. W. Goodwin to go racing, passed to Mr Kimberley in 1952 and was competed until 1959. B. H. Steckler then owned it for more than forty years, continuing to race it and fitting a period supercharger. The current owner has had it since 2000 and used it at shows and historic events rather than in competition.

A full nut-and-bolt restoration was carried out in 2025 by Classic Restorations of Milton Keynes. The odometer reads 86,297 miles, with about 6,000 covered since a replacement speedometer was fitted. The file includes the workshop manual, sales brochure, race reports, photographs and restoration records. Historic Technical Papers have been applied for, after which the car is intended to join the Mille Miglia Register for the 2027 Centenary event. The listing is marked as coming soon.
