About this car
The GSM Flamingo is a fibreglass GT coupé from Cape Town's Glassport Motor Company, and this 1964 car is one of only about 140 built. Early cars used a 1.7-litre Ford Taunus engine, with the 1.5-litre Cortina unit following. This one has the pre-crossflow 1.5 with a Weber 36DCD7 carburettor, plus cam and branch modifications.
The Flamingo has wishbone front suspension and a rear end designed to limit inside-wheel spin under power. It was said to cruise at 100 mph, with a top speed beyond 120 mph.
The car is UK registered, with chassis number 64082 and a full known history. It also comes with a South African Veteran and Vintage Dating Certificate, and is offered after a long period with one owner.
