About this car
The Frazer-Nash BMW 315/1 came out of AFN Ltd's 1934 partnership with BMW, which brought German-built sports cars to Britain under the Frazer Nash name. This left-hand-drive example, chassis 51266, is one of only 16 right-hand-drive cars AFN imported into the UK, of which roughly eight are thought to survive. It was first delivered in 1935 to Mr Matson Roberts with the registration BMX 77.
The car was exported to Italy around 1969–70 and re-registered there as MI.L35000. It took part in the 1972 and 1996 Mille Miglia and spent more than 40 years with one family before the current owner bought it in 2011. The owner is a member of Scuderia Ambrosiana, and the car was repainted in that club's black and blue at some point between those two Mille Miglia entries.
A full restoration began in 2012. Carrozzeria Rebecchi of Brescia handled the chassis and bodywork, and during the strip-down the car's original colours were found and restored. Italo Cristofoletto rebuilt the engine and mechanicals. The dealer says the engine, carburettors, gearbox, chassis, body panels, instruments and axles are all original and numbers-matching. Only the fuel pump, coil and rear lights are not. The page gives no mileage, and the price is on application.
