About this car

This is a Mk1 Escort built up from a 1300L shell in the style of an RS2000, with a Ford Pinto enlarged to 2.1 litres in place of the original small engine. HPE Motorsport rebuilt the engine with forged rods and pistons, a full-race head, its own camshafts, twin 44 IDF carburettors and MSD ignition. The page quotes more than 220bhp, which is a long way past a factory RS2000.

The rest of the car has been uprated to suit. It has a Type-9 five-speed gearbox, a limited-slip differential, a custom GAZ suspension setup, vented discs with braided lines and Sierra Cosworth rear callipers. Inside are Ferrari 355 front seats and carbon fibre door cards, and it sits on 9x15-inch Minilite alloys with a stainless steel exhaust.
