2017 Ferrari F12 TDF

The F12tdf is one of the few cars where the options list tells its own story. This 2017 example was commissioned through Ferrari's Tailor Made programme with a depth of personalisation that goes well beyond a colour choice. Extra-Range Bianco Italia triple-layer paint carries a contrasting Tour de France blue livery across the exterior, while virtually every carbon fibre element — engine covers, headlight buckets, fog lamp surrounds, floor plates, underdoor covers, filter box cover — has been specified in Glossy Blu Carbon Fibre. Inside, Blu Scuro Alcantara lines the dashboard, headliner, centre console, rear wall, boot trim and door cards, with Matte Blu Carbon Fibre racing seats, Blu Sterling inner details, and Cavallino stitching in Bianco completing a specification that reads as designed rather than optioned.

The F12tdf takes the 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 of the F12 Berlinetta and extracts 780bhp from it, then wraps the drivetrain in revised aerodynamics, rear-wheel steering, magnetorheological dampers and a thorough weight reduction programme. Power goes to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and Ferrari's figures of 2.9 seconds to 62mph and 211mph top speed remain representative of where front-engined GT cars stood at their peak. The engine note at the top of its rev range is among the finest sounds a road car has produced.

At 2,160 miles from new, this car has covered almost nothing across its nine years since delivery — exceptional even by collector standards. It carries an excellent Ferrari service history and was UK-supplied from new. With production capped at 799 worldwide, Tailor Made examples with a cohesive and documented commission reliably trade above standard cars when they appear. As turbocharged and hybridised Ferraris now dominate the range, the F12tdf's naturally aspirated V12 character and its place in the lineage becomes harder to replicate.
