The 458 Speciale Aperta is the open-top evolution of what many regard as the finest naturally aspirated Ferrari V8, and it is among the rarest road-going 458s: 499 were built worldwide, with only 49 in right-hand drive. This 2015 car has covered just 2,920 miles, which puts it firmly in collector territory rather than driver territory, and it is protected with full paint protection film and supported by a full history file.
The mechanical story is the Speciale's own. A 4.5-litre V8 revving to 9,000rpm drives the rear wheels through Ferrari's dual-clutch gearbox, with magnetic dampers and a weight-saving approach that sharpens the car whether the roof is up or down. The page quotes 600 bhp, 399 lb-ft, 0-62mph in 3.0 seconds and a 203mph top speed. It is an engine that earned International Engine of the Year honours and remains a benchmark for the breed.
The specification is about as period-correct as the model gets. Giallo Triplo Strato paint carries a Blu Nart racing stripe, Scuderia Ferrari shields and blue brake callipers. Inside are Nero Alcantara, Giallo Filo Speciale stitching, Giallo seatbelts, large carbon racing seats with Giallo 3D fabric inserts and the yellow rev counter. Carbon trim runs through the exterior and cabin, with titanium exhaust pipes, AFS, a suspension lifter, parking camera and sensors, and Radionavi with Bluetooth. The car has since been sold by Premier GT, which lists it at £1,399,995.
