About this car
Among the most documented and historically significant 330 GT 2+2s in existence, this Series 1 car carries a provenance that elevates it well above the already-scarce pool of right-hand drive examples. One of just 44 RHD UK-supplied cars built between 1963 and 1965, it was originally delivered to Patsy Burt — one of Britain's most celebrated female racing drivers of the era. Rather than a standard factory delivery, Burt drove the car back from Maranello herself, having negotiated a one-off metallic shade with Ferrari that became known as 'Burt Blue' — chosen to match her race cars and applied to no other 330 GT in existence. Five tins of the colour came with it. The original 1965 invoice and written factory correspondence regarding the interior finish — ultimately executed in Grigio Connolly leather — both survive in the history file.
The Series 1 identity is confirmed by the quad headlights up front, complemented by Borrani wire wheels, Veglia instrument dials, and a wooden-rimmed steering wheel. The 4.0-litre Type 209 V12, fed by triple twin-choke Weber carburettors, delivers 300 bhp through a four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox with overdrive. Across its early life the car accumulated 88,500 miles, during which it won its class at the 1981 Avisford Park concours, featured in a Supercar Classics article in the autumn 1984 issue, and appeared in a Thoroughbred and Classic Cars triple test in 1996 — where it was judged the most appealing of the three comparative cars.
In 2018, the car received a full nut-and-bolt restoration at a documented cost of approximately £380,000, covering the engine, bodywork, interior, and chrome. Since completion it has covered just 1,104 miles, and the standard of work is reflected in the concours-ready finish throughout. Many of the original RHD examples have since been rebodied as 250 GTs — which may leave this as one of only 26 intact RHD UK-supplied cars — making its combination of single-owner history, unique colour, and comprehensively restored condition genuinely rare.
