Listed today at Girardo & Co., Oxford.
The 288 GTO was Ferrari's Group B homologation special and the first of its 'halo' supercars, with only 272 built. Its 2,855cc twin-turbocharged V8 produces 400 bhp, and it sits in a tubular spaceframe with composite bodywork. This example, chassis 055687, was one of 20 delivered new to the UK. Its first owner, Charles Church, collected it from the Maranello factory in May 1985.
Ownership has been short and well documented. The page counts four private owners from new, and the car stayed in the UK throughout. It covered roughly 50,000 km under its first owner, with a further 10,000 km and then 5,000 km under the next two. A comprehensive restoration ran from 2022 to 2024. It included a bare-metal shell strip, an engine rebuild and an overhaul of the suspension. The car won its class at Salon Privé in 2024, and Ferrari Classiche certification followed in 2025, confirming the original chassis, engine, gearbox and body.
The seat and dash inserts were retrimmed in factory-style red cloth using new-old-stock fabric. The original black leather inserts were kept. The car retains its fitted Schedoni luggage, tool roll, spare wheel, keys, documents pouch and a copy of the factory build sheet. The listing is marked sold and gives no price or current mileage.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Ferrari official heritage figures: 400 PS, 2855cc twin-turbo V8, 304 km/h. Ferrari only published dry weight (1160 kg) and 0-100 km/h, so weight and 0-60 are left null. 272 is the number actually built (200 planned for homologation).).
