About this car
This is chassis 02343, one of only 14 factory-built Group 4 Panteras and the only one converted by the factory to Group 5 specification. It was sold new in 1972 to the Italian driver Vincenzo 'Pooky' Cazzago and prepared by Scuderia Brescia Corse. It was entered for that year's Le Mans 24 Hours but failed to qualify quickly enough to start. At Monza that April it finished 2nd in class and 7th overall.
In 1973 it passed to Gianpiero Moretti, founder of MOMO, who raced it in yellow with MOMO Racing Team sill lettering. Ruggero Parpinelli bought it in 1975 and had the factory rework it for 1976 with wider bodywork, BBS wheels, Gurney Weslake cylinder heads and a four-speed Hewland LG500 gearbox. He took it to the Giro d'Italia that year, where an engine failure ended its run.
It was later raced by its Italian owner Panizza, then restored in the UK to 1976 Giro specification after Rupert Clevely bought it in 2007. The current owner has had it since 2012 and has raced it at Masters events and the Le Mans Classic. It has two Peter Knight-built Ford V8s, each making about 500 bhp. The fitted engine has five hours of use and the spare has only been run on a dyno. The sale includes a large spares package, FIA HTPs are valid to December 2033, and the car is road registered in the UK. The price is not published.
