Buick Series 46C Straight Eight Convertible

This is a left-hand-drive 1939 Buick Series 46C convertible, powered by the 4.5-litre straight-eight that gave Buicks of the period their smooth, quiet running. It has a three-speed manual gearbox with a column change. It is an unusual pre-war American tourer to find on UK plates, and it has a dickey seat plus two fold-out occasional seats, so it can seat up to six.

The car came to the UK and stayed with one owner for around 22 years. A full nut-and-bolt restoration followed straight after import, and the dealer says detailed bills and correspondence document the work. The engine was rebuilt with new pistons and a re-ground crank. The underside was treated with Waxoyl in 2013. Since the restoration it has been maintained by Horsfields of Halifax, and the engine rebuild was done by Drakes of Halifax.

It is finished in its original mid metallic green with a beige interior, including the dickey seat. Since the restoration it has completed several tours, among them Austria and both islands of New Zealand. No mileage is stated.
