This Type 35B has a long competition record. Chassis 4696 is identified by Bugatti historian David Sewell as Sir Malcolm Campbell's Type 35 Grand Prix car, the one that held the Brooklands 50-Mile record. Geoffrey St. John restored it and brought it up to 35B specification in 1964.
Bernard Kain first raced it in April 1966. He was a former VSCC chairman and a Bugatti Owners Club vice president. His results include several Boulogne Trophy wins, four Itala Trophies, two Williams Trophies and a place in the first Monaco Historic Grand Prix. Hugh Wace then owned it for 18 years and took it to Bugatti rallies across Europe and as far as New Zealand.
Ivan Dutton Ltd carried out a complete rebuild in 2001, followed by a further engine rebuild in 2019. The car has won awards with both the VSCC and the Bugatti Owners Club, and carries the registration DOL 2. The page says it is only the second time in about 60 years that it has been offered publicly. No price is stated.
