BMW M3 Competition xDrive

The G80 M3 Competition xDrive pairs the S58 twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six with all-wheel drive and a conventional eight-speed torque-converter automatic, a combination that trades some of the old manual car's theatre for serious real-world pace. With 503 bhp and 649 Nm, it is a fast, usable four-door that remains one of the more complete performance saloons on sale.

This 2023 example has covered 25,460 miles and is finished in Skyscraper Grey over Extended Merino bicolour leather in Black and Silverstone. The wheels are the forged M Double Spoke 825 set in Orbit Grey Matt, 19 inches at the front and 20 at the rear, and behind them sit M Brakes with black calipers. It is a sensible, well-chosen spec rather than a stripped-out one.

Options are extensive for a car at this price. The Technology Plus Pack brings adaptive cruise and a 360-degree camera, alongside Parking Assistant Plus. The Visibility Pack adds LED and laser headlights, and the Comfort Pack, heated steering wheel and Drive Recorder round out the list. The result is a car that works as a daily driver as readily as a weekend one.
