2002 Alpina Roadster V8
£259,950
About this car
An Alpina Roadster V8 is one of the more unusual footnotes in BMW history — Alpina's reinterpretation of the outgoing Z8, built in just 555 examples worldwide with the majority destined for the US market, making any UK-based car an uncommon find. This 2002 example, finished in Titanium Silver over black Nappa leather with special piping and Alpina logos, shows 7,169 miles from new and was imported and UK-registered in 2018.
Where the standard Z8 ran a 4.9-litre S62 with a six-speed manual, Alpina swapped in their own 4.8-litre V8 and paired it with a ZF five-speed automatic with Switch-Tronic — a deliberate reshaping of the car from sharp-edged roadster into a more refined grand tourer. It came with both the colour-matched hard-top and black soft-top, 20-inch Alpina alloys, Alpina dials and a matching steering wheel, which together give the car meaningfully more presence than a standard Z8.
With low mileage, both roofs present, and the Alpina-specific interior and wheel package intact, this is a car bought and held for what it is rather than driven hard. Values for the base Z8 have long been on an upward trajectory; the rarer Alpina variant sits another rung above, and cars in this condition rarely surface in the UK market.
