This is a 1936 Derby Bentley 4¼ Litre with four-door all-weather drophead coachwork by Vanden Plas, a less common body style than the more familiar two-door tourers. The hood folds flush with the bodywork after releasing a single central latch, and the window runners drop into the door tops. The car is chassis B123GP, Vanden Plas design number 1349 and body number 3475.
It was supplied new to G Palmer, then chairman of the Huntley & Palmers biscuit company. It is finished in cream over red with a black hood. The interior is black leather, described as in very good order.
Fiennes Engineering carried out a full engine rebuild and mechanical overhaul, and the restoration was completed in 2011. The dealer says the workshop logs and bills are extensive. The current owner has used the car sparingly on tours. No mileage is stated. The car carries its UK registration, JB9684.
