The first-generation Audi R8 V8 with the six-speed open-gate manual is the version enthusiasts seek out: a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8, quattro traction and an aluminium spaceframe, with none of the R tronic automation that most buyers chose when new. This 2009 car has covered 20,659 miles and is finished in Brilliant Red over black leather. It is believed to be one of only eight right-hand-drive UK cars in this configuration.

The options list is well judged for an early R8. Audi Magnetic Ride adaptive dampers (a £1,350 option) and a Bang & Olufsen sound system sit alongside Carbon Sigma sideblades and interior inlays, 19-inch five-arm double-spoke titanium-finish alloys, LED headlights, satellite navigation, heated and electrically adjustable seats, and front and rear parking sensors. Two exhausts are included: the original R8 system and a Larini valved exhaust.

History is a strong point, with 14 Audi main dealer stamps, 13 of them from the supplying dealer, Audi Southampton. The car comes with a Romans International Platinum Warranty.
