Chassis J4/505/L is a 1935 Aston Martin Mark II Sports Saloon, one of only 21 built and one of a handful believed to survive in original form. It left Feltham on the long chassis in black with a sliding sunroof, and was first registered UN 8110 on 19 January 1935 to Miss D. Evans. She was a keen competitor, pictured in The Light Car after setting a ladies' record at Shelsley Walsh.
The ownership record is unusually complete. Every keeper from new is named, most with their own invoices, and the file includes works service cards, the original registration book and period press cuttings. The car has been with the Armstrong family, long associated with pre-war Aston Martins, since the late 1970s.
It is offered as a restoration that is nearly finished, not a running car. David Taylor built a new engine around the car's original numbered block, but the block suffered frost damage in storage before the engine could be run in. The seller says much of the engine is likely usable, but a buyer should budget to resolve the block before the car returns to the road.
