Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Specification

This DB5 was delivered new in September 1964 in Silver Birch with red Connolly hides, and was specified from new with a heated rear screen and chromed wire wheels. It kept its original colour through a full restoration. Only three owners are recorded. The first kept it until 1986, and it covered more than 75,000 miles in its first five years according to factory records. The page gives 48,495 miles on the odometer.

The restoration began after the third owner bought the car in 2008. It was overseen by Peter Stratford of Aston London and took more than two years. The car was stripped to the bare chassis and corroded steel sections were replaced. The original aluminium body was restored and repainted. The engine had been replaced in 1970. During the rebuild its capacity was increased from 4.0 to 4.7 litres with a steel crankshaft, larger pistons, uprated valve gear, Vantage-specification camshafts and triple Weber 45DCOE9 carburettors. A dyno sheet in the history file records 340 bhp. The interior was retrimmed to the original specification.

The restoration was completed at 25,600 miles, and the last owner added more than 20,000 miles on tours and at concours events. The history file includes the original 1964 buff log book, the factory build record, restoration invoices, MoT certificates from the restoration onward, a 1986 trade sales invoice from Aston Martin Lagonda, the handbook and the tool roll. The dealer supplies the car serviced, with 12 months' warranty.
