Alpine A110 1300

This 1973 Alpine A110 1300 is set up as a fast-road car with a good deal of Group 4 competition hardware, yet it keeps the lightweight, rear-engined character that made the Berlinette a rally great. It is finished in Bleu Acia Métallisé and has covered 28,600 miles.

The engine is the centrepiece. A Renault 1397cc block has been rebuilt by Alpine specialist Salv Sacco with a fast-road camshaft, 1550 forged pistons, steel liners and a Renault 5 Alpine/Gordini cylinder head. Twin 45 DCOE Webers feed it, and an estimated 145 bhp goes through a five-speed 353 gearbox previously rebuilt by Bob Wheeler. Koni adjustable suspension and uprated brakes complete the chassis.

The car had a body-off restoration some years ago and has seen little use since, with the underside said to remain as it was when the work was finished. Roughly £10,000 has been spent in the last three years on period-correct parts, including a Group 4 sump, an oil cooler with air scoop, a rally fuel tank, a rear roll cage by Autobleu and four-point harnesses.
